We are proud to present SCOOPS and Shay Cotter! This is very exciting! We are so lucky to be able to host this event with such wonderful artists. Both are great friends of the Studio and both are so talented.
DUBLIN MAGAZINE wrote about Shay: “he is an artist who stuns the audience with his guitar virtuosity and catchy songs” He has a unique finger picking style and poetic and quirky lyrics. He has guested with the likes of The Gypsy Kings, David Gray, Jools Holland, The Doobie Brothers, Damien Rice and Paul Brady. He will perform with a guest pianist from Chile, Nelson Olivares Alfaro. With PJ Curtis proclaiming Shay as “an absolutely marvelous live performer and outstanding songwriter” we can’t wait for this gig.
Scoops are an Irish band hailing from Dublin and its members are: Stephen ‘Scoops’ Cooper (Lead Vocaluitar), Stephen O’Rourke(Drums, Percussion and Backing Vocals) and Kevin Murphy (Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals).
Scoops himself is a Dublin born singer songwriter who was honing his craft for a number of years, gigging relentlessly all over the country. Stephen O’Rourke originally from Waterford Ireland made the move from his home to Dublin in late 2014 to join Scoops and they began to tour as a two-piece playing original music. It was then in early 2016 that Kevin Murphy joined to finalise the line up of Scoops and they began working on their debut EP.
This is when the name of Hannah Ryan was picked out of the hat to celebrate 1k likes on out FB page.
She won at that moment:
A day recording In Cauldron Studio
Online MIX and online MASTER of the recorded material
Music Video from the day
Little did we know that Hannah is a part of Pine ¶he Pilcrow, trio from Dublin.
This is what they write about themselves:
“Pine ¶he Pilcrow write stilling, lullaby-esque music compromising of piano (Kevin Murray), cello (Kevin O’Brien performs cello on the EP but has since been replaced by Robert Campbell) and fiddle (Hannah Ryan) with a combination of gruff and angelic vocals. Melancholic melody lines evoke emotion as they drop onto your ear and cause a ripple of reflection.
A relatively newly formed group with less than 12 months together, Pine the Pilcrow has enjoyed a busy and warm reception to the Dublin music scene. They quickly found themselves rising in demand as they were chosen to perform at The Hard Working Class Heroes Festival. They were delighted to support Anderson and were blown away to perform in Christchurch Cathedral accompanied by the Humanitarian Orchestra and The Dublin Ballet Academy.
One of their favourite memories was being invited to play at the prestigious Ruby sessions, being asked back several times; and named as one of the top three highlights of 2015 by Conor Donovan in The Irish Times.
Pine the Pilcrow were also invited to play on the NYE festival trail, to support Inni-K as part of her 2015 tour to packed venues and to the sold out Ruby Sessions new years eve gig in Smock Alley; to name but a few of their appearances across Dublin and further afield.
Being nominated for Best Newcomer at the Pure M Awards 2016 and with their critically acclaimed debut EP now available, there future is very exciting. Allow this band, born with a sound all of their own, to sweep you away into delicate harmonies and heartfelt songs.”
We are delighted to announce that they are now after claiming their prize and we are in the process of mastering and editing the footage.
We literally cannot wait for this project to be finished so that we can share it with you.
Cauldron Studios was delighted to be involved in the audio production of the acclaimed 1916 Centenary show on RTE with engineer Tim Martin at the helm. Congratulations to all involved..
“Close Your Eyes” opens with that kind of jazz number that’s not quite a standard, but resonates a jazz heyday that’s a joy to re-experience. You know that old movie scene … the one where the guy in the double-breasted suit walks into a nightclub and stares up at a siren in a lamé dress? That’s the one. The lights are low and the mood is sultry and the songs will inevitably be of seduction, love or heartbreak.”
“CLose Your Eyes” a new recording by Josh Johnston and Truly DiVine.
James Cramer’s interview and live performance of his new single “My World Again” for RTE2 with the lovely Grainne Hunt , and our own David Montuy on drums.
