Ciarán Byrne credits as an engineer and producer read like a who’s who in the music industry.

He started making tea at Dublin’s Windmill Lane Studios in 1987 but quickly moved on to assistant and then Engineer drinking tea!

Van Morrison and the Chieftains Celtic Heartbeat, U2 Rattle & Hum and Achtung Baby were all recorded during Ciaráns time in Windmill while during the other hours in a 24 hour day Ciaran worked on post production audio for the booming TV and Film during those years.

Seminal Irish traditional albums such as Sharon Shannon “Sharon Shannon”, Cooney and Begley “Meitheal”, Seán Smyth’s “Blue Fiddle” and Liam O Flynn “The Pipers Call” were recorded under the watchful eyes and ears of Ciarán.

Cauldron Studios founded by Ciarán and Bill Shanley in 1999 has given rise to different facets of Ciarán’s career. Drawing on early childhood musical experiences in The Artane Boys band… yes he wore the shorts! and a classical music upbringing at home. He has moved into recording and mixing for many acclaimed Film scores and Classical work. 3 IFTA winning scores in an impressive 4 year run were done under the stewardship of Ciarán. He is now in great demand for Film Score Recording and Mixing.

Not happy with all that Ciarán is still recording and producing for new talent as it comes along, Niall Mc Cabe, The Hard Ground, Louise Killeen all made stunning debut albums with Ciarán at the helm.

Heartbeat of Home the new show from the producers of Riverdance saw a new departure for Ciarán as Sound Designer of the show. Duties for this included recording and mixing everything used in the show, and in tandem recording and mixing the Studio CD and live DVD and at the same time organising the technical aspects and sound design for the debut of this innovative and acclaimed global show.
